Production Procedure of Silk Screen Printed Glass

  Screen printing glass is a kind of decorative glass which is applied by glass screen printing process, decorative printing on glass surface and then fired at high temperature.

  Glass screen printing is the use of screen printing plates, using glass glazes, decorative printing on glass products. Glass glaze is also called glass ink and glass printing material. It is a paste printing material which is obtained by mixing and mixing coloring materials and binders. The coloring material is composed of an inorganic pigment and a low melting point flux (lead glass powder); the binder is commonly known as a slab oil in the glass silk screen industry. After printing, the glass products should be placed in a fire furnace and fired at a temperature of 520~600 °C. The glaze printed on the glass surface can be fixed on the glass to form a colorful decorative pattern. If you use silk screen together with other processing methods, you will get better results. For example, polishing, engraving, etching, etc., the glass surface is processed before or after printing, and the printing effect can be doubled.


  So how is silk screen glass produced?   1. The glass suitable for printing cuts the glass according to the user's requirements. It can be regular shape or irregular shape, then it can be grounded by grinding, then cleaned and dried for use. Special care should be taken here that there should be no water marks on the glass surface.

  2. Screen selection: The screen printing plate for glass printing is the same as the general screen printing plate. The glass screen printing plate is made of synthetic fiber mesh, stainless steel wire mesh and natural fiber mesh. When printing general color materials, the above mentioned screens can be used, generally using inexpensive synthetic fiber mesh; when used as gold and silver decoration, stainless steel wire mesh cannot be selected. The specifications of the wire mesh are generally 270 to 300 mesh.

  3. the choice of the frame is currently more formal, the deformation of the frame is aluminum alloy frame, its size should be larger than the pattern, the specific size should be the outer edge of the pattern should be between 70 ~ 100mm frame. In addition to selecting the frame, its strength is very important, the key is that the rigidity in the horizontal direction is sufficient.

  4. The stretch net selects the screen and the net frame, then these two combine, this is the stretch net. There are many ways to stretch the net. It can be manually, maneuvered or pneumatic. At present, the more advanced, high-quality screen version is a pneumatic stretcher. The requirement of the stretch net is that the tension is uniform, the web warp and weft are kept vertical, and the adhesive mesh is firm and cannot be slack.

  In addition to glass silk screen printing, printing consumables also bring you another technology of glass printing, which is the etching of silk screens. For a long time, the etching of glass products is a hot wax coating on glass surface and other reinforcing materials. The layer is etched, and then the pattern is drawn on the coating with a needle, a knife, etc. to expose the surface of the glass, and then the surface is etched with hydrofluoric acid. This process continues to be used by manufacturers, but its processing method is time consuming, laborious and inefficient. The silk screen etching process makes the etching and decoration of glass products simple, time-saving and labor-saving.

  The etched silk screen of glass has two methods; hot stamping and cold stamping. Thermoplastic etching silk screen is a kind of adhesive prepared by paraffin, asphalt, stearic acid, etc., and a small amount of anti-corrosive powder is added to prepare a resist printing material. The hot-printing screen version is used to print the printing material according to the design pattern. To the surface of the glass, a resist film is formed. A part of the Korean jewelry that exposes the glass on the resist film is a pattern that needs to be etched. The etching is carried out using chlorofluoric acid, and after etching, the resist layer printed on the glass is washed away with boiling water. Glass silk screen etching can also be carried out by cold stamping. The resist print can be made of a special asphalt paint plus a resist powder, or a commercially available anti-ink can be purchased. After the printing is completed, the hydrofluoric acid is corroded after the resist film is completely dried. The hot stamping is suitable for the etching of two continuous and four-sided continuous pattern patterns, and the cold printing is adapted to the etching of the individual patterns.
